The Engagement Day

I'm about 4 months behind on this (wow, it's been that long) but better late than never, right? Well, I hope so. Samantha and I got engaged on October 5, 2009 which happened to be our 7 year anniversary of dating. We spent the weekend at my families condo in Orange Beach from Saturday to Monday and we had a great time. We went to a very nice dinner on Sunday night (I almost proposed then) and thouroughly enjoyed the time alone with each other.

On Monday I rented us a jet ski and we spent an hour circling Ono Island and enjoying the sunshine and the very cool weather. Near the end of the trip I ran us aground on a barrier island and told Samantha that I wanted to stretch a little bit and take some pictures. After snapping a few shots we both sat down and talked about what the last seven years had meant to both of our lives. I told Samantha that she had brought a light into my life that I had never dreamed of. She provided me with a complete life by being my perfect completer, designed by God just for me. I quoted a few scriptures (1 Cor 13:1) and told Samantha that she had changed me from being a "resounding gong" from the love that she had given me. I said to her "Samantha, I love you and our life together. You make me happier than I could ever imagine and have enriched my life beyond measure. I want to spend the rest of my life proving to you that you made a good choice and providing everything you have given to me and much more. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?"

From there, she said "YES!" and I was THRILLED! She of course cried and said that she loved her ring and was so surprised. I have to thank Laura Bell and Joshua Moore, close friends of ours in Birmingham, for throwing her off from expecting it; they had been telling her to expect it closer to Valentine's Day of 2010. On the car ride home to Prattville to meet our parents for dinner we discussed dates and wedding party and then had a wonderful meal with our families at Longhorn. Below are a few pictures from a day that Samantha and I will never forget. Enjoy!

Welcome to The Baulch Family Blog

Welcome friends,

This Blog is designed to show the progression of Samantha and I becoming our own family. I am a part of a great family in Prattville with my Mom & Sister as is Samantha with her parents and sister but haven't begun our own yet. We are getting married on May 22, 2009 and could not be more excited about it! I plan to use this to keep people up to date with our life and how things are progressing through engagement, to marriage, and then onto the really fun stuff; you know, dogs, rugged fish, maybe even children!

Thanks for stopping by. Please subscribe as there should be lots of good stuff here in the coming month, years, and decades. "We're just getting started."
